We are excited to share our latest childcare project within Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and the region’s most prominent medical and hospital precinct. Mollard Property team sourced and designed this off-market site. It benefits from high exposure and inbound access to the CBD via major arterial roads, as well as convenient public transport access. Our Building Designer met the unique objectives of the Childcare Operator, whilst also considering the site’s slope and respecting the surrounding residential and evolving medical properties. The purpose built high-end childcare centre will result in 117 childcare places.

The heritage commercial building, carriageway easement and car parking requirements posed challenges to our team, however the risks were mitigated through an in-depth analysis, fully considered planning and design. Mollard Property Group sourced the site based on a detailed childcare needs assessment, secured the tenant and completed the Development Management to successfully be granted a development approval. The site also benefits from the recent rezoning of Arden Macaulay Structure Plan.   Do you know how to boost our economy? Accounting firm  KPMG  is calling on the federal government to  boost subsidies for childcare  in the October budget to 95% of total costs. In an interview with the Australian, KPMG Australia Chair Alison Kitchen said moving towards fully funded childcare was particularly important in saving jobs given that the social and economic impact of COVID-19 fell more heavily on women. “The government is looking for ways to stimulate the economy, boost access to jobs and improve productivity”, she said. “We believe focusing on making childcare more accessible and affordable is very timely, given the impact of childcare on worker productivity and economic activity.” This will be a major boost for the childcare industry and there is talk of a 100% funding of total costs.
